Gopher Bar in Saint Paul

The brunette bartender told us (after we couldn't order food in the establishment) that we couldn't bring the food we had brought from the gas station down the street, that being snack sticks with guacamole. She was very rude to all of us even after we removed the food.

Place is and should always be a St. Paul staple. They don't claim to be anything outside of what they are, a "local" bar that serves FANTASTIC Coney's and beer. They are honest and don't throw you any BS. If you can't handle that then I agree, go somewhere else. However, if you want the only "experience" left in that neighborhood put it on your list.

Always stop here for some dogs before the wild games. Then we take the shuttle from here over to the game.

Great service! Old school bar with a small town feel

Went in, sat down for about 5 minutes, the bartender never said hi or anything... There was only 5 people there. Don't know what I did to upset them, but never going back, would suggest to steer clear, and find some place that at least acknowledges you.

Fun little place. Great food and friendly staff. Coney is for sure the way to go. Make sure it’s “wit cheese”

Great food in a politically incorrect atmosphere!

This place is great. Sometimes you just got to get away from the chains. Never had a negative experience here. Contrary to reputation I'm always greeted well and with good service.

Great dive bar. It was really busy, dew to a daytime Saints game, so it took a while to get service. There was only one cook and one waitress running the whole show. Once we got our Coney Islands, they were fantastic. I will go back soon to enjoy some more Coney Islands.

This place is quite the dive bar, but that's part of what makes this place interesting and fun. If you like Coney dogs, this is the best place to get them bar none! If you get offended easily find some place else to go.

I went to Gophers bar for my birthday.And the Vicking Football game .The service was not promt and the attitude was crabby and did not offer a birthday drink when i told him it was and ask for a drink i was told no rudlly.

I'm giving 5 stars for what it is. A bar in St. Paul. This place has been there a very long time and has lots of regulars. The signature sauce they make for their dogs and burgers is outstanding. The vibe was great. Unfortunately, the area has gone downhill in regard to crime. That is definitely not their fault. Also, the owner was there and he was hilarious.If you are in the area and want a beer or some food, check it out.

Best Coney's.. I try to go there at least once a year. It is a bit of a drive. And parking sucks. But the Coney's are best

I don't avoid bars because of stickers on the walls. I go for food, drinks, pricing, atmosphere and crowds. The day i went, everything tasted good and the patrons were respectful and no signs of this so called 'conservative crowd.' It was mostly filled with hipsters having a good time. Honestly, there are much worse bars in The Cities that preach hate and discriminate that I've walked out of. Message me if you want know of these places.

Great place for some good eats before the Saints game. They advertise the best coney dogs in town and they are pretty dang good. I would definitely go back for another. Very tasty! Be aware, they are cash only.

Cheri's specials should not be missed!

The cash only is a tax evasion scam to shield how much they make from the government and pay undocumented workers, the heinous signage behind the bar, and the coney dogs with grainy (like sifting sand trough your teeth) meat on top - all around gross place, would give 0 stars if I could. Oh and our waitress couldn't get a single thing right and didn't listen to anyone's clarification, and nothing complicated, just like two dogs instead of one.

If it matters to you, this joint has the best chili dogs in the northern Midwest, on par with any Greek establishment between Detroit, MI and Rochester, NY.

Had a damn good 21st birthday, and yeah I swore, so what? This place welcomes that, and it "doesn't take fkin' checks," alright? You'll see a sign with those EXACT words as soon as you walk in, so my kind of bar. Damn good, though simple lookin', Coney Islands. I'd go back here w/ friends.

This was one of the best dive bars ever!! Not sure if it was fate or a coincidence, but we started off with a quarter falling from the ceiling, you'll figure it out, the most beautiful and fun waitress. Ice cold Hamm's pitcher. Then she brought us the shocker!! Best ending ever!!

I love this place for it's uniqueness. In a time where there is a lot of new bars and restaurants with fancy interiors and designer foods and designer prices that sometimes taste like art work. That's why I was so happy when I stumble across this bar that didn't have designers anything at the jazz festival last weekend I was looking for comfort food and drinks at a fair price and I didnt need tolook like a fashion model as I walked in the door. Why are these places disappearing when they are always needed. Sometimes all you need is a couple of Coney dog's and drink at a little table in a dark corner at causal price at the local bar like gopher. There is still room in my heart for places like this reminds me of earlier stress free days. 😍💛💛💛💛💜 .
